The Pygmalion Original Drum Lamp Base is hand painted in our Oxfordshire studio.  The design is inspired by a pair of antique cloisonné lamp bases.  Cloisonne is a way of enamelling an object, typically made of copper, whereby fine wires are used to delineate the decorative areas into which enamel paste is applied before the object is fired and polished.  

Our version is made from tulip wood with the motifs laid in by brush and stencils.  The lamp base is then given further layers of paint to enhance the colours and antique the finish.
